Does the GRUBBRR Kiosk import Modifier Codes like "Extra" or "Light" from my NCR POS? 

NCR clients can use modifier codes as optional prefixes in their menu to give customers more control over the quantity or style of their order's modifiers. These codes- such as "no," "light," "extra," or "on the side" for salad dressing- can be selected by customers at the kiosk and will be printed on the KOT for the client's kitchen. 

It's important to note that GRUBBRR can not add or remove modifier codes from the Portal; we can only enable or disable the codes for specific ingredients. All modifier codes must be defined in the client's POS before we pull the menu.

Pulling Modifier Codes

No specific steps are needed to pull modifier codes from the NCR POs to the GRUBBRR Portal. When we complete our initial menu pull, we will automatically pull all modifier codes the client has defined in their system. We can apply them to any appropriate selections through the Selection Management menu. 

Applying Modifier Codes to Menu Items

We map modifier codes at the Common Modifier or Modifier Group Level. That means that any items (i.e., tomatoes) that appear in multiple modifier groups can have different modifier codes mapped to them for each group. 

1. Log in to the GRUBBRR Portal at the Location level
2. Select Menu from the sidebar on the left of the page
3. Select Modifier Management
4. Select Common Modifiers
5. Select the Modifier group you wish to edit
6. Click on the Blue edit button at the top right of the modifier group table
7. Scroll down to the ingredient table
8. Select the ingredient that you want to enable Modifier Codes for
9. Under the Action column, Select the Modifier Code Mapping button for the item you wish to edit
10. This will display the modifier codes pop-up, where you can configure the following options: 
    
    • Is Active determines whether or not a modifier code is offered for the selected ingredient. You can have up to four active modifier codes per ingredient.  
    • Default determines which modifier code is automatically applied when the ingredient is selected on the kiosk. Whenever you activate modifier codes for an item, you must also select a default.
11. Repeat the process for each ingredient you wish to edit. 
12. Click Save at the bottom of the page. 

At the Kiosk

Once modifier codes are applied to an item, they appear as buttons on its tile in the Kiosk menu. 

Sometimes, an item may only have a single modifier code applied. If you look at the button for Pepper Jack Cheese in the example above, you'll notice no selection buttons. Instead, the kiosk simply places the modifier code- "Add"- before the item's name. This helps keep the UI clean for kiosk users. 

The kiosk sends any modifier codes a user selects to the kitchen printer, so it's important to ensure we select the right codes and defaults for each ingredient item.
