Why aren't side options (or other modifiers) displaying correctly on my kiosk?
Last updated: September 21, 2026
Customers and staff may notice that side selections, drink options, or other modifiers are not appearing correctly on the kiosk during the ordering process. Common symptoms include:
Side options not appearing at all for meal items
The modifier sub-menu collapsing after the first selection, causing the same item to be applied to all remaining selections
Drink or size options missing from meal configurations
Optional modifiers, such as “No Bun” or “Add Cornbread,” not being selectable
These issues are often caused by modifier group configuration settings, such as Minimum Selection, Maximum Selection, or Max Aggregate Selection values. Before contacting GRUBBRR Support, you can review the menu setup in your POS or menu management system to confirm the expected configuration.
If modifier options are not displaying correctly on the kiosk, try the following steps first:
Confirm the affected items and modifiers. Identify the exact location, kiosk, menu item, modifier group, and modifier options that are not displaying or behaving correctly. If possible, take photos or screenshots of the issue on the kiosk.
Review the modifier group setup in your POS or menu management system. Check the affected modifier group’s selection rules, especially:
Minimum Selection: Confirm the number of required selections matches the intended customer experience.
Maximum Selection: Confirm customers are allowed to select the correct number of options.
Max Aggregate Selection: Confirm this is not set to 0. A value of 0 can prevent selections from being made; it should typically be set to 1 or higher.
Check required modifier flow. If a modifier sub-menu closes too early, confirm the Minimum and Maximum Selection values are not causing the kiosk to advance after the first selection when additional choices should still be available.
Update the source menu if needed. Make any necessary corrections directly in your POS or menu management system, such as Olo or your POS platform. Updating the source menu helps prevent the issue from returning after future menu syncs.
Sync or refresh the menu. After updating the source menu, run the appropriate menu sync or refresh process for your location so the kiosk can receive the latest configuration.
Test the item on the kiosk. Start a test order and confirm the affected sides, drinks, sizes, or optional modifiers now appear and allow the correct number of selections.
If the issue continues after completing these steps, please contact GRUBBRR Support at support@grubbrr.com or call 855.547.8227, extension 2. Include the affected location, item names, modifier group names, what you already checked or changed, and any screenshots or photos of the kiosk behavior. Our team can then review the configuration and help apply any remaining updates.
