Why is my kiosk displaying incorrect or outdated pricing?

Last updated: September 2, 2026

Kiosk menus may sometimes display incorrect prices, $0 pricing, or outdated pricing that does not match what has been configured in the POS or backend system. This can happen after a menu update, a Limited Time Offer (LTO) launch, or a price change that was applied to the POS but not yet synced to the kiosk.

Answer

Kiosk pricing is not always updated automatically when changes are made at the POS level. In many cases, a manual menu sync or price sync must be performed to push the latest pricing to the kiosk. Below are the most common scenarios and how to resolve them:

Multi-System Environments (POS + OLO + Kiosk): If your location uses an online ordering (OLO) system in addition to POS and kiosks, pricing updates must follow this sequence: 1) Update prices in the POS system first, 2) Verify and update prices in OLO if needed, 3) Request GRUBBRR to pull the latest menu from OLO and sync to kiosks. The kiosk system pulls menu data from OLO, so if prices are not updated at the source systems, your menu prices will be outdated.

1. Prices were updated on the POS but not reflected on the kiosk

Important: Before syncing, ensure all items are active/enabled in your POS system. Items marked as 'Inactive' in the POS cannot be synced to the kiosk menu. After making changes in your POS, wait 20‑30 minutes for the changes to propagate through the ordering system before triggering a menu sync.

After updating prices in your POS system, a menu sync must be triggered to push those changes to the kiosk. You can trigger these updates by navigating to the POS settings page (available in the "Kiosk" section of the Console sidebar) and then pushing updates to your Kiosks using the top right of page.

2. Items showing $0 or no price

If a menu item is displaying a price of $0 or no price at all, this typically indicates that the pricing was not properly configured or synced from the POS to the kiosk.

This can also occur if there are multiple versions of the item in your POS system and the correct one is archived. To check: locate the item by its Reference ID in your POS, and if it's in an 'Archived' folder, unarchive it before performing a menu sync. This can also prevent orders from being completed, as the kiosk may detect a price mismatch between the cart and the POS.

Please contact GRUBBRR support if you're still encountering $0 items after a menu sync as listed above.

3. Modifiers or ingredients charging incorrectly

If a kiosk is charging for an ingredient or modifier that should be included at no extra charge, this typically indicates incorrect pricing configuration in the POS system.

  1. Update the pricing for the ingredient/selection in your POS system to remove or correct the charge

  2. Pull the updated configuration from the POS to GRUBBRR following the steps outlined above

  3. Push the updated information to the Kiosk

4. LTO (Limited Time Offer) items not appearing or showing incorrect prices

If a new promotional or LTO item is not appearing on the kiosk, or is showing incorrect pricing, it is likely that the LTO configuration was not communicated to the support team in advance, or the menu sync has not yet been performed. To avoid delays, notify GRUBBRR Support ahead of any LTO launch so the configuration can be set up and synced to the kiosk in time.

5. Kiosk pricing differs from POS pricing (cart validation error)

If customers are unable to complete orders and you see an error such as "Cart item prices are not valid," this means the kiosk menu pricing is out of sync with the POS (and OLO, if applicable). You should be able to resolve the issue via a menu sync; however, if errors persist after updating your Kiosk menu, verify that both POS and OLO (if applicable) have the correct prices before requesting another kiosk menu pull. If issues continue, you should contact GRUBBRR Support for additional help.

In all cases, please reach out to GRUBBRR Support at support@grubbrr.com or call +1-855-547-8227 and provide the following information to help expedite resolution:

  • Store name and location

  • Affected item(s) and the correct vs. displayed price

  • Screenshots or photos of the incorrect pricing on the kiosk

  • Whether the correct price is already reflected in the POS

In the meantime, if the pricing discrepancy may cause customer confusion or revenue loss, consider placing an "Out of Service" sign on the affected kiosk until the issue is resolved.
