KDS: Settings

Your GRUBBRR KDS has a wide variety of display settings you can utilize to optimize your device for your business. This article will cover all KDS-related settings that can be found in the GRUBBRR Portal, where to find them, and what they change.

General Settings

General Settings is the home of virtually all device customization. The section is divided into four tabs, Common, Kiosk, POS, and KDS. For KDS customization, you will utilize the KDS tab.

To reach the KDS Settings page:

  1. Select ‘Configure’ from the left sidebar menu
  2. Select ‘General Settings’ from the dropdown menu
  3. Select 'KDS' from the tabs at the top of the screen

Settings that are Blue and Bolded are highly recommended. Settings that are Bolded are frequently used.

  • Timers (Time 1, 2, 3 / Color 1, 2, 3)
    • You can use timers to customize the color that orders appear on the KDS based on the length of time they have been in progress
    • You can set up to three timers
  • Update OPB
    • If you are using an Order Progress Board (OPB), this setting should always be checked
  • Auto-Scroll to New Orders
    • If there are too many orders for all to be seen, the KDS will scroll to show new orders as they pop-up
  • Show Customer Name (optional)
  • Show Server Name (optional)
  • Show Category Name (optional)
  • Show Modifier Group Name (optional)
  • Use Bump Bar (optional)
    • If you use a bump bar with your KDS keep this checked
    • Also check:
      • Minimize Sidebar
      • Hide Action Buttons
  • Show Delay Order Button
    • Allows you to send SMS messages to customers and let them know their order is being delayed
  • Only Allow to Complete Paid Order
    • Orders will not be able to be marked as complete on the KDS until payment has been accounted for
  • Show Car Information
    • If you take drive-thru orders keep this checked
  • Print Receipt
    • Whole order or Individual items
      • Individual items: You can choose to print receipts per individual item ordered
      • Whole order: You can choose to print receipts for entire orders at once
    • Print Before or Print on Completion
      • Print Before: KOT Receipts are automatically printed from KDS printer when orders are placed and when the order is completed a complete receipt will also print from the same printer.
        • In this situation, the KDS printer is replacing the KOT printer
      • Print on Completion: KDS printer prints order completion slips after an order is completed
  • Display Mode
    • You can choose between dark mode and light mode
  • KDS Mapping
    • If you are using multiple KDS devices, you can turn on KDS Mapping to route specific orders/items to specific screens
  • KDS Order Confirmation Print Settings
    • These settings modify the KDS order confirmation receipt
    • The settings are as follows:
      • Font Size
        • Select a font size from the dropdown - the default is 1
      • Show Modifier Group Name
      • Show Modifier Selections
      • Show Variations
      • Show Item Special Request
      • Show Order Special Request
      • Show Order Date
      • Show Invoice Number
      • Show Customer Phone
      • Show Order Type
      • Show Token Number
      • Show Customer Name
      • Show Top Divider Line
      • Show Total Items
      • Show Item Counter
      • Show Location Name
      • Show Footer Text
      • Footer Text
        • Enter any footer text you would like to appear on the KDS order confirmation receipt
