As mentioned in our Site Readiness Guide, GRUBBRR devices require a stable network connection (10 Mbps download/5 Mbps upload) in order to function. For the vast majority of our solutions, this means that we should use an ethernet (wired) connection, because these tend to be more stable and reliable than connection over wi-fi.
Exceptions
While we still strongly recommend wired connection for Digital Menu Boards or GRUBBRR tablets, these devices can be connected to wi-fi (or cellular networks, in the case of tablets) for additional flexibility. However, the following requirements must be met for us to use devices over wi-fi:
- All GRUBBRR devices must be connected to your location's private wi-fi; public access will tax the network and can cause performance issues on the device
- Users must confirm that their wi-fi network has sufficient bandwidth and a strong enough signal to reach the devices, and to ensure constant connectivity
Failure to adhere to these requirements can lead to poor connectivity and performance issues on your GRUBBRR devices.
