GRUBBRR users can make a wide range of customizations to their Kiosk, altering the button types and order flow on their devices to best match their brand's unique identity and needs. In this article, we'll walk through some of the different ways that we can use Kiosk Appearance settings to change how customers see the Kiosk. Please note: while the examples in this document are pulled from an organization using location-level controls, the majority of these settings can also be configured as part of a Kiosk Dataset for clients using ECM Controls.
Accessing Appearance Controls/Modifier Settings
First, let's take a look at how to find Kiosk Appearance settings, and the controls that are available in the "Modifier Appearance" section. Generally, these elements will change what users see when they're adding modifiers to their menu items.
1. Click "Kiosk Settings"
2. Click "Appearance"
3. Click "Kiosk Appearance"
4. "Display Modifier Group Restriction" shows the minimum and maximum number of choices a user can make in each modifier group
5. "Allow User to Collapse/Expand Modifier Groups" changes Accordion Mode to have collapsible modifier groups, and adds a UI element that alerts guests when they are ready to move on to the next modifier group
If this flag is turned off, the Kiosk will show all modifier groups and modifiers on the screen when a user is customizing their items.
6. "Show Default Modifiers" and "Show Modifier Group Names" both add additional information to the "Details" dropdown on the order confirmation screen
7. If "Allow user to Collapse/Expand Modifier Groups" is enabled, the "Auto-expand" function shows all modifier groups and modifiers on the item customization screen
If this flag is turned off, users can only expand one modifier group at a time when customizing their items
Category Appearance Settings
The next section on this screen controls the Category UI on your Kiosk, which changes what users see when they're browsing categories on the Kiosk.
1. "Category Header Display Mode" controls whether the Category name displays in or under the header of the page
2. We can also control whether the brand's Logo shows in the Category Header in this section
3. With this flag turned on, the Kiosk will highlight the currently active category using its pre-defined "Secondary Color"
4. The "Show Item Description" flag is bugged, and should not be used
Instead, use the "Item Description" flag in the miscellaneous settings section, as described below.
5. Finally, we can choose whether the category name is left- or center-aligned on the Kiosk menu
General Appearance Settings
The "General Appearance" section lets us change high-level UI elements on the console, such as the style of kiosk buttons or the type of "Call to Action" button we use on the device's home screen.
1. The "Button Appearance" option allows us to configure whether the Kiosk uses rectangle or oval buttons in its UI
2. If Loyalty or other Discounts are enabled, we can display a button on the Kiosk that users can tap to enter a discount code
3. If users haven't already added a "Call to Action" to their screensaver, we can add a custom Tap to Order button here
4. This CTA button can be a text banner, or a custom image we upload to the console
5. If we're using a text banner for our Call to Action button, we can customize the text color, background color, and message here
Loyalty Settings
The next section changes how the Kiosk and Kiosk Receipts display information related to a user's Loyalty account, and potentially allow users to claim rewards for their orders even if they don't sign in on the device.
1. If the client is using Loyalty, we can show users their accumulated loyalty points on the Kiosk header
2. We can also add a Loyalty Redemption code to Kiosk Receipts
3. If we're printing Loyalty codes on receipts, we can enter a custom description for them here
Displaying Accepted Payment Types on the Kiosk
The next section allows us to add a small, but helpful QOL feature to our Kiosk.
1. "Show Accepted Payment Options on Screensaver" allows users to quickly see how they can pay for orders on the Kiosk
2. With the main flag turned on, we can manually configure whether or not the Kiosk shows each sub-type of payment on this screen
3. We can also add custom text to let users know what the symbols mean on the Kiosk
Miscellaneous Appearance Settings
Finally, we have access to a collection of Miscellaneous settings. This section is subject to change, and may be folded into other categories with ongoing UI updates to the Console.
