GRUBBRR's Clover SMB solution is an integrated sales solution. That means we connect your merchant.grubbrr.com account and Kiosks with your Clover POS and pull information about your menu directly from Clover. This integration allows you to manage most of your menu in the Clover App, and you only need to make minor tweaks to make your items "menu ready." In this article, we'll walk you briefly through how Menu Syncing works, what it pulls, and what we can (and can't) change on the menu once it's in the GRUBBRR portal.
How does it work?
When you use the "Pull from Kiosk" option in your Grubbrr Merchant Portal, our system pulls a complete list of all items, categories, modifiers, modifier groups, prices, and discounts in your POS menu. It's important to note that we don't change or update anything when we pull this information; every menu entry is pulled precisely as it appears in your POS, and we can't change these configurations through the GRUBBRR portal.
What does that mean? Let's say a menu item in the POS has three modifier groups attached to it, but you only want it to use one. You would have to make this change in the POS and pull the updated menu into the portal because our system treats the POS' rules as law.
Overrides in the GRUBBRR Portal
While the integration doesn't allow us to change core configurations like item prices or modifier groups, we can make certain changes that affect how your menu appears on the Kiosk. We call these changes Overrides- specific situations where your GRUBBRR device gets to follow its own rules instead of those created in the POS. These overrides are generally cosmetic changes, such as:
- Changing an Menu Images
- Changing Menu Display Names
- Showing/Hiding Categories, Items, Modifier Groups, or Modifiers on the Kiosk
- Note: We can't limit how/where we hide menu entries- if you hide an entry, it won't appear anywhere on your Kiosk menu
- Marking an item as Sold Out
- Changing Category, Item, Modifier Group, or Modifier Display Order
- Changing the Minimum and Maximum Quantity of Modifiers that Guests can add to their orders
- Adding Upsells
- Adding Coupon Codes to redeem upsells on the kiosk
All of these changes work because they are limited to your GRUBBRR system. No matter what we configure as a Display Name, for instance, the item's name in your POS remains unchanged. The same is true for Upsells; we can offer an entree and a drink together, but that doesn't change the price of the individual items.
