Your GRUBBRR kiosk supports an option called Builder Mode for menu items with multiple required modifier groups. Items configured in Builder Mode will walk your guests through the entire modifier selection process before they can add an item to their cart.
Creating items for Builder Mode requires a few different steps.
Mapping Modifier Groups
First, you'll need to ensure you have mapped all relevant Modifier Groups to your menu item. Remember that items in Builder Mode generally have a Minimum selection requirement; for example, if you're offering a "build-a-bowl" item, guests must choose at least one base for their bowl before moving on to the next step in the ordering process.
Enabling Builder Mode for A Menu Item
After the Item's modifier groups have been correctly mapped, you'll need to enable Builder Mode in the Item's settings. To do so:
- Sign in to the GRUBBRR Portal at the Company or Location level, depending on where you manage your menu
- Click Menu in the left sidebar
- Click Catalog Management in the dropdown menu
- Click Items
- Find the Item you wish to display in builder mode
- Click the blue Edit button in the action column for that Item
- Scroll down and select Click to Manage Additional Settings
- Click on the option labeled Builder Mode- Require All Steps Before Add to Cart
- Scroll down and click Save
You'll need to repeat this process for each Item you wish to display in Builder Mode. Remember to Sync and apply changes to your kiosk once your configurations are done!
When to use Builder Mode
GRUBBRR doesn't recommend using builder mode for every item. As a general rule, we want to keep the number of clicks it takes to submit an order as low as possible- so, we generally want to use this mode for menu items that can involve a wide variety of customizations, such as "build your own" bowl items or sandwiches. When used appropriately, builder mode makes it easy for Guests to add these complex items to their cart- but, for other items, it's better to use GRUBBRR's Add As Is functionality to reduce clicks instead.
