If you are having issues connecting your Square reader to an Android kiosk or recently updated the GRUBBRR app, you may need to reset the reader and re-pair it manually. To do so, follow the steps outlined below.
Resetting your Square Reader
To disconnect your Square reader from your GRUBBRR devices, press and hold down the small white button on the side of the device for about twenty seconds, until the device's lights flash orange, then red, then turn off. Once the device has powered down, press the button again to reactivate the device.
Factory Resetting a Square Reader
If a standard reset does not work, we may need to perform a factory reset in order to link the Square reader to the client's Kiosk. This is especially true if migrating the client to Square Merge version 12.4+. To perform a factory reset:
- The client will need verify that there are no pending offline payments on the device
- The client needs to remove the payment device completely from the SquareUp dashboard
- We will need to unpair the reader from the Kiosk
- Hold the button down for about twenty seconds, until the lights flash orange, then red, then off
- Power the device back on
- Repeat the process, holding until the red lights on the device stop flashing
- This must be done within 30 seconds of restarting the reader
- Press and hold the button until the lights on the device flash green
- If the reset was successful, the device will flash green again without any buttons being pressed

Pairing a Square Reader with your GRUBBRR Kiosk
To pair your Square Reader through the Admin Settings of your kiosk:
- On the screensaver of your kiosk, tap the logo 5x
- Enter the access code for your devices
- Select the Square Payment tab from the left sidebar
- Press and hold the button on the side of the Square reader until the light begins to flash orange to put the device into pairing mode
- Select Pair a Reader
- Once your reader has been paired, and the payment device is ready to use, you'll see the device listed on the Kiosk screen
