This article will provide some basic tips and processes for troubleshooting your Noble Printer. Please remember to always connect to your printer through the Noble App, and not through your iPad's internal settings.
Finding Your Printer Name and Information
Use the graphics below to help verify that you are connecting the correct printer to your Noble App.
Once the printer is connected to the tablet, the connection should remain established. Use the “Menu” – “Settings” – “Test Receipt” button to verify connection status.
Troubleshooting Connectivity Errors
If you're having issues connecting to your Bluetooth printers through Noble, there are a few different ways you can attempt to resolve the issue. We've outlined three different processes below, starting from fixes within your Noble App and escalating to configuring the printers themselves:
- Resetting Printers through your Noble App
- Resetting your Printer Connection with your iPad
- Performing a Factory Reset on your Printer
Resetting Printers through your Noble App
The first troubleshooting method we'll look at can be done entirely within your Noble App. To send a command to reset printers through Noble:
- Sign in to your Noble App
- On the Menu Screen, look for the Noble Crown logo at the bottom of the page
- Tap the Crown logo three times to bring up the internal debug menu
- On the Debug Menu screen, click on the Reset Printers option
- Verify that your printers have reconnected through the Settings menu
Resetting your Printer Connection with your iPad
If resetting printers through your Noble App doesn't work, the next step would be to reset the printer's connection to your iPad. To do so, follow these steps:
- Go into the iPad’s general settings menu
- Select Bluetooth
- Select any connected devices
- Select Forget this Device
- While leaving the printer disconnected, open your Noble App
- Go to the menu tab,
- Select Settings
- Click Add a Bluetooth Printer
- The device name (See above) should show up in the list within ~30 seconds
- Once the device connects, it will print a receipt showing the connection was established
- Verify your printer details in the Settings menu
Performing a Factory Reset on your Printer
Resetting your printer's connection to your iPad should restore connectivity. However, if the issue persists, you can perform a factory reset on your printers by following the steps below. After resetting your device, you can connect to the device through your Noble App, following steps 6-11 in the above process.
- Turn off the printer by pressing the power key on the top of the printer.
- Use a ballpoint pen to hold down the SW reset switch located at the bottom of the printer.
- Hold the SW-Reset switch down for 5 seconds.
- Keep holding the SW reset switch while you turn the printer back on.
- It will print a small piece of paper that says “Initialization complete”.
- Release the SW reset button. This completes the factory reset.
Open Order Tickets Not Printing
If your printer is connected, but is not printing order tickets, you may need to perform a soft reset of the Print Queue through the Bartender KDS application. You can reset the print queue by following these steps:
- Sign in to your Noble App
- On the Menu Screen, look for the Noble Crown logo at the bottom of the page
- Tap the Crown logo three times to bring up the internal debug menu
- Scroll down on the Debug Menu until you see an option labeled Reset Open Ticket Printing
- Note: The system may not provide confirmation that the process has been completed
- Print a test ticket to verify that the reset has taken effect
