How Combos work in the GRUBBRR Console
Last updated: August 8, 2026
Does the Kiosk support combos from my POS?
Depending on your integration, GRUBBRR can import combos from your POS and add them to your Kiosk as unique menu items. The system then uses a variation of our "builder mode" flow to let your guests customize the various items that make up the combo.

Combos can be configured in the "Menu Settings" section of the Console for brands using location-level controls, or they can be added to Menu Datasets for locations using Enterprise Controls. In this guide, we'll show you how Combos are configured at the location level.
Go to gcc.grubbrr.com
1. We can find combos in the menu by clicking on the "Menu Settings" option in the left sidebar...

2. Then clicking on "Menu"

3. All combos are made up of "Combo Component Groups"
Think of these as "modifier groups" for traditional items. Each component group will be shown as a separate screen on your Kiosk, so that your guests can easily add and customize the individual items in their combo.

4. We can configure minimum and maximum selections within combo component groups, and add individual menu items as needed

5. Click here to view the full combos on your menu

6. We can configure Combo items just like regular items
We should give each combo a Display name and a description. If desired, we can add a size label and a calorie count for the combo here as well.

7. Combos also have unique Display Modes that we can use to change the order flow
The Display Modes we offer are:
-
Standard Mode:
-
Standard display mode displays each component group as a separate screen, and guides customers through the process of customizing each item in the combo
-
-
Compact Mode:
-
Offers a more streamlined flow for customers, using a pop-up modal rather than the standard "multi-screen" flow
-
-
Box Builder
-
A custom flow designed with doughnut concepts in mind. Box builder specializes in creating larger, more complex "Build your own box" combos, and presents your guests with a graphic of their order at the top right of the Kiosk screen.
-

8. It's important to add an image for Combos, just like we would for any other Items on the menu

9. The different component groups in the combo are listed here

10. "Default" components are automatically selected when a user selects the Combo
In this menu, the "Default" component group only has one item to choose from; but for more complex menus, you could select one sandwich as the "Default," but still allow customers to swap to other items as part of the ordering flow.

11. "Main" component groups determine which menu items will trigger "Make it a Meal" Upsells on the Kiosk
This gives customers the opportunity to opt into a full combo, rather than simply adding an entree to their cart.

12. If necessary, we can activate and deactivate component groups here
As a general rule, though, this information should be managed through your POS.

13. We can also edit any of the combo component groups from this page

14. Note: If we ever have to create "custom" combos in the GRUBBRR Portal, we can clone existing combos from the POS
This will allow you to further customize the ordering experience for each combo. When cloning a combo, you'll be given the option to select which component groups customers can modify during their order on this pop-up.
